From May 17 to June 22, 2025, MAGMA presents ENDLESS SUMMER, the first edition of a triennial exhibition cycle held at the Magazzini del Sale in Cervia.
ENDLESS SUMMER offers a participatory experience rooted in the idea of dialogue, where 8 curators from different generations—each following their personal inclinations and specific research interests—have invited 43 visual artists, including some of the most prominent names in the contemporary Italian art scene, to reflect on summer as an eternal possibility: a season in which time seems to stretch, light governs days and spaces, and new forms of perception emerge, projecting disruptive perspectives and desires.
The exhibition project draws inspiration from the namesake surf documentary directed by Bruce Brown in the mid-1960s, where the filmmaker follows a group of surfers around the world, journeying between the Earth’s two hemispheres in search of an endless summer. ENDLESS SUMMER evokes precisely this paradox—the idea of a summer that never ends, that stretches beyond its own timeframe, revealing itself as an impossible dream, a myth.
The works selected by the curators—spanning a range of artistic practices from large- and small-scale painting to video, sculpture, photography, and collage—intertwine and converse in a kind of curatorial jam session. They follow free principles of juxtaposition and resonance, developing an organic space for dialogue in which mutual trust plays an essential role.
